Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how The Diplomat's Handbook (the "App") handles information. Most of the App works entirely on your device. As of version 3.22.0, the App also collects a limited amount of anonymous, aggregate measurement data through Meta's analytics SDK so that we can understand how the App is used and measure our marketing. This policy describes exactly what is collected, why, and your choices.

1. Who we are

The App is published by AlHadi Development ("we", "us", or "our"). You can reach us at support@alhadidevelopment.com.

2. Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, photos, contacts, calendars, or files. The name you may optionally enter in the App is stored only on your device and is never transmitted.

Through the Meta (Facebook) SDK integrated in the App, we automatically collect the following limited, non-account data:

Advertising ID — your device's resettable Android advertising identifier (AAID), used to measure app installs and the performance of our advertising.
App activity / app events — anonymous, enumerated events such as app launches, certain in-app interactions, and milestone events. These contain no free text and no personal content (for example, they record that a lesson question was answered, not what you wrote).
Subscription events — when you start a trial or subscribe, we log that a subscription event occurred together with its price and currency, to measure conversions. Your card details are never collected (see Section 5).

This data is anonymous and is not linked to your name or to any account. It is shared with Meta Platforms, Inc. as described in Section 6.

3. Information stored on your device

To remember your progress between sessions, the App stores the following locally on your device (in the WebView's on-device storage):

Your answers to the intent quiz used to personalise the journey order.
Your current rank, reputation, daily streak, and which scenarios you have completed.
Any reflections you choose to write after a lesson.
Your narration preferences and whether you have agreed to local reminder notifications.

This on-device information is not synchronised to any server. Uninstalling the App deletes all of it.

4. Local reminder notifications

If you grant the optional notification permission, the App schedules a single, gentle daily reminder using your device's built-in notification system. The reminder is generated locally; no notification content is sent from a server. You may revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

5. Subscriptions and payments

If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed by Google Play Billing. Google receives your payment details directly; the App and its publisher never see, store, or process card numbers. As noted in Section 2, we (and Meta) receive only an anonymous record that a subscription event occurred, with its price and currency, for conversion measurement. Your purchase history is also governed by Google's privacy policy.

6. Third-party services

The App uses the following third-party services:

Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook SDK / app events) — receives the advertising ID, app events, and subscription events described in Section 2, and uses them for analytics and advertising measurement and optimisation. See Meta's Privacy Policy and how Meta uses information from apps and websites.
Google Play Billing — for subscription purchases (see Section 5).
Your device's text-to-speech engine — for reading lessons aloud. Lesson text is sent to the on-device engine only; no audio data leaves your device.

7. Children's privacy

The App is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us.

8. Security and retention

Data transmitted to Meta and to Google Play is encrypted in transit. On-device information is protected by your device's own security model. The anonymous measurement data shared with Meta is retained according to Meta's data-retention policies.

9. Your rights and choices

Reset or limit your advertising ID. You can reset your Android advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, at any time in your device settings (Settings → Privacy / Ads). This limits how the advertising ID can be used.
Erase your on-device data. Use "Erase all progress" in the App's profile screen, or uninstall the App.
Withdraw notification consent. Revoke the notification permission in your device settings at any time.
Cancel a subscription. You may cancel anytime via Google Play (Subscriptions). Access continues to the end of the current billing period.
Statutory rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the EU/UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, or other laws. To make a request regarding the anonymous data described here, contact us at the address below; note that because the data is not linked to your identity, we may be unable to associate it with a specific individual.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the App's behaviour changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, surface a notice within the App. The current policy is always the version at this URL.
