The Diplomat's Handbook

Terms of Service

Effective date: 30 May 2026 · Last updated: 30 May 2026

These terms ("Terms") govern your use of the mobile application The Diplomat's Handbook (the "App") published by AlHadi Development ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You may use the App if you can form a binding contract under the laws of the country in which you reside. If you are using the App on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Licence to use the App

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:

3. Subscriptions, free trials, and billing

The App offers paid subscriptions ("Premium") that unlock all lessons beyond the free first journey. Subscriptions are sold and processed by Google through Google Play Billing in accordance with the Google Play Terms of Service. Your payment relationship is between you and Google.

Auto-renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the price and interval shown to you at purchase (for example, monthly or annual) unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged through your Google Play account.

Free trial

If a free trial is offered (for example, on the annual plan), it converts to a paid subscription at the standard price at the end of the trial period unless you cancel beforehand. You can cancel from your Google Play account at any time; cancellation prevents future renewals while preserving access until the end of the current paid (or trial) period.

Refunds

Refund eligibility is determined by Google Play's refund policies and the laws of your jurisdiction. We do not process refunds directly; please contact Google Play support for refund requests. Statutory consumer rights in your jurisdiction (for example, the EU/UK 14-day right of withdrawal, where applicable) are not affected.

Price changes

We may change subscription prices for future renewals; Google will notify you in advance as required by Play policy, and you may cancel before the change takes effect.

4. Your content (reflections)

The App invites you to write short reflections after lessons. These reflections are stored locally on your device, never transmitted to us, and never shared with anyone. We claim no ownership over them; they are yours.

5. Acceptable use

The App does not provide a social, messaging, or sharing surface. Because it is single-player and offline, there is little opportunity to misuse it; nevertheless you agree not to use the App for any unlawful purpose, and not to interfere with the App's operation.

6. Intellectual property

The App, including all lessons, scenarios, critiques, principles, illustrations, code, text, layout, sound design, and trademarks, is owned by AlHadi Development and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited licence granted in Section 2, no rights are transferred to you. "The Diplomat's Handbook" and any associated logos are our trademarks.

7. Educational nature; no professional advice

The App offers reflective, educational lessons on communication and etiquette. It is not professional advice and is not a substitute for therapy, legal counsel, HR guidance, or any other professional service. If a situation in your life warrants professional advice, please seek it.

8. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and quiet enjoyment. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the App. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms will not exceed the amount you have paid to Google for the App in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to liability, or, if greater, USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities; the exclusions and limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by your jurisdiction's law. Statutory consumer rights are not affected.

10. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate access to the App or to specific features if you violate these Terms or if continued provision becomes unlawful or impractical. Sections that, by their nature, should survive termination will do so (including 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, and 12).

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of United Arab Emirates, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The courts located in United Arab Emirates will have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your residence require otherwise.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. For material changes we will, where reasonable, give prior notice within the App. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms; if you do not agree, you may uninstall the App.
